On-Premise Managed Private Cloud Servers

We host your cloud environment internally in West Quay Offices, so you can have complete control over the security, configurations, and scalability.

Today, businesses are moving to the cloud for their most critical business applications. It is an excellent way to deliver IT services more quickly and cost-effectively. When looking for a secure cloud option, organizations often choose private clouds. Although businesses were a little reluctant to migrate to private cloud earlier, it quickly emerged as the most secure cloud model.

Private cloud is the most preferred option for organizations due to the additional security it offers. In a private cloud, the cloud computing services and infrastructure are hosted privately within West Quay Offices. Your server is accessible from your secure VLAN to the personnel of yours. Your cloud is managed internally inside our offices and is not accessible to those outside of your organization. Private clouds are also referred to as enterprise clouds.

Why does getting a private cloud server from West Quay Offices make sense?

Private cloud environments typically require more IT efforts and more frequent intervention than public clouds, which can be set-and-forget in nature. An enterprise will require a large in-house IT team, sophisticated tools, constant training, and significant efforts to keep an end-to-end private cloud running with external support.

We offer these services with. a subscription model as managed and look after the implementation, usage, and maintenance. This will bring you lots of savings and remove headaches in the end.

But Private (Enterprise) Cloud is so expensive?

It is true if you want to maintain your own hardware and IT team, but not if you are already a member of West Quay Offices. We already built and maintain infrastructure and offer these services to all our members as an add-on service.

On-premise Private Cloud

  • What is private cloud?

Private cloud is a Cloud Computing environment dedicated to a single customer, combining many of the benefits of cloud with the security of on-premises IT.

West Quay Offices offer on-premise private cloud.

  • What is public cloud?

The public cloud is defined as computing services offered by third-party providers over the public Internet, making them available to anyone who wants to use or purchase them. They may be free or sold on-demand.

West Quay Offices does not offer public cloud.

  • What is the difference between private and public cloud?

Private cloud refers to a Cloud Computing environment that is dedicated solely to one organization, providing greater control, privacy, and security over data and resources. The infrastructure is located on-premises, within West Quay Offices. In contrast, a public cloud is a shared computing environment where resources are distributed among publically on internet.

In brief, public clouds utilize shared infrastructure, while private clouds utilize an organization’s own infrastructure.

There are several analogies for public and private cloud, such as:

    • Private cloud as a house, public cloud as an apartment
    • Private cloud as watching videos you own, public cloud watching streaming video online.
  • Where will my on-premise cloud server located?

It will be in our server room in West Quay Offices. On our bare metal server with many disk arrays. Your data will not leave outside from our office.

  • Is my private cloud will be managed?

Yes, we will deliver your on-premise private cloud installed with operating system you choose. We will be responsible for managing and maintaining the infrastructure. You will be responsible with softwares in your private cloud and we won't be logging in your cloud after first deployment.

  • Will you be accessing my private cloud data?

No, we won’t be logging in your cloud after first deployment. You can chnage password to anything you like. We can only hard boot per your request in case you need.

  • Is private cloud the most secured cloud?

Yes, it is. Your server won’t be accessible over internet and will reside on-premise infastructure behind our firewalls only for your internal network usage. Your servers can be only accessible through your VLAN subnet or a specific computer of your choice in your own network provided by West Quay Offices.

  • Do I need license for Windows OS?

If you want us to install Windows including Windows servers, you will need your own license in your VPS. We do not provide icense but just install system for you.

  • Can I connect my private cloud from my home?

With our default setup, you cannot. There are a few ways if this what you want:

    1. You can install a remote access software or some are built-in like in Windows computers and you can use computer remotely
    2. You can use our Business VPN to connect to your network in West Quay Offices
    3. You can make your server publicly accessible through internet which is not our advise if security is your goal
    4. We can add your static IP of your home to allowed and you can access your server from your home. This won't work if you home IP changes and we need to configure again.
  • Can my server be accessible from Internet?

Normally it won't. It is for ony intranet usage, but it can be accessed if you want this way.

  • Will my private cloud be protected with firewalls?

Yes, your on-premise private cloud server will be behind our bare metal firewall and can be configured however you like. We can open some ports of your choice or minimum ports for intranet usage. You can also install your software firewall on your server if you want.

  • Is it possible to have private data in public cloud?

You may think why my company needs a private cloud? If securing your files is your goal, this is why:

Every organization’s data is stored separately from other companies when in the public cloud; this is one of the key concepts of multi-tenancy. However, major cloud provider agreements outline a shared responsibility model, where the CSP is responsible for physical security of the data and the subscriber is liable for the logical security (encryption, cybersecurity, authentication, identity and access management). In any case, there are several scenarios where private data might reside in a public cloud.

Data protection is a prime example. There are many cloud-based data protection providers who store a company’s backups and snapshots in the cloud. Some of these providers utilize their own cloud; other rely on inexpensive object storage available from providers like Amazon S3. These backup providers are responsible for ensuring the security of the data entrusted to them.

  • Can I run containers on private cloud?

Yes, we cn import LXD and Docker®, Kata containers to your private cloud. LXD supports OS-level virtualization for Linux®-based operating systems, while Docker® and Kata are ideal for application virtualization purposes.

Private Cloud Benefits

When learning about cloud options, it may be difficult to decide which option is best suited for your business. Due to the ubiquitousness of public clouds, a lot of businesses are focusing their strategy around them. Public clouds seem like a safe bet due to their low cost of entry.

However, there are a lot of reasons that a private cloud is the best option for new and existing cloud users. A private cloud service is a cloud platform that is exclusive to the user. The internal IT team at West Quay Offices is in charge of managing it and contains the user’s preferred hardware and software.

  • Improved security

Private business clouds are more secure by default. With this, an organization has its own dedicated resources. One must be a part of the organization to be privy to their internal network to pierce the organization’s firewall. Quite simply, since it is private, it is not as easily accessible. People without access will not know it is even there. This can help in securing proprietary information, such as customer information or financials.

  • Complete control

One of the benefits of the public cloud can also be a drawback. In a public cloud, you are generally subject to the network infrastructure that is shared by everyone on that cloud. However, in a private cloud, the network can be completely customized to the needs of the organization. This level of control allows for a lot more flexibility. An organization does not need to adapt processes to a different framework.

  • Legal compliance

Some industries have very strict compliance standards that may dictate security. Sensitive data may require a private business cloud in order to meet the compliance standards required by law.

  • Cost control

In the past, a private cloud was built specifically for an organization. This results in an upfront cost. However, a company will know what their monthly bill will look like. There are no surprises. Scaling takes more planning but budgeting can be done accordingly with our monthly subscription model.

  • Peace of mind

You do not need to wait for support emails and long telephone support calls that you will end up on many offshore support centres until you can find a technical person that can solve your problem.
