Recycle station & garbage disposal

Recycle Station

Our recycling rules are not different than what you do at home. We ask all members to carry on their recycling habits they do at home when in our workspaces.

Recycling helps reduce pollution by reducing the need for waste incineration and reducing the environmental impacts of resource extraction and processing.

If we don’t recycle, more waste will be incinerated or sent to landfills, which increases air and water pollution globally.

Containers #

Our recycling station has four containers, and it is your responsibility to place your trash into the appropriate ones:

Blue bin with yellow banner #

Any cardboard or box that is larger than the letter size and has less than half an inch of thickness can be thrown in the blue box at the recycling station. You can dispose of anything larger yourself in the building’s main garbage room, or we can recycle it for a fee.

Recycle Station - Mixed Paper

Green bin with light green banner #

Only throw food scraps, fruit and vegetable leftovers, and food-soiled paper in here.

Please do not throw the silverware provided for dining into this bin, even though we find it absurd to mention this; unfortunately, it has happened before.

Recycle Station - Organic

Black bin with dark grey banner #

Only throw illustrated items in here. Absolutely, do not throw anything other than the listed 3 items in here. Recycle items in the correct containers.

Recycling your food orders:

Do NOT throw leftover bags from your food order into this container as a whole. People who care about sustainability prepare the majority of ordered food packaging with recycled materials. Throwing all of this packaging into landfills defeats the entire purpose of saving the world. If you can’t do this, please take your trash when you leave. Learn more about our green initiatives in here.
If you choose not to complete both of these actions, we will add a service fee to your account, as described in the table below.

Recycle Station - Containers

Please only dispose of what is illustrated on recycle station banners.

You need to recycle your trash in the correct containers:

If you can’t do this, please take your trash with you instead of using the recycling station. If you neither complete these tasks nor wish to do so, we will add a service fee to your account, as described in the table below.

Recycle Bins in private offices #

Each private office has a bin that is collected on weekends. This bin must be used only for recycling office-related blue bin items, which are generally paper products.

Please do not throw any food leftovers into these bins. Food leftovers will spoil, creating a bad smell that can spread to the corridors and affect your neighbor’s coworkers.

Larger and limited items #

You can only dispose of small items at our recycle station. If you have large items or anything we do not collect, you need to use the garbage room of the building. The garbage room is located on the first floor, at the very end of the west side of the building. Make sure you have your building fob with you if you face any locked doors.

Additionally:

  • All garbage must be placed inside the bin.
  • All Cardboard must be correctly flattened and placed inside the cardboard bin or blue paper bin if it fits and it must be smaller than letter size with half-inch depth
  • Under no circumstances should items be left on the floor, behind or on top of bins
  • No area rugs or electronics are permitted to be placed in the recycle station or your room garbage. You can not leave these in the building’s garbage room as well. These items must be taken directly to the Recycling Centre or landfill. You can locate some helpful addresses below.

Below, please examine the fees in the first column if you ask us to dispose of some types of garbage you want us to dispose of for you. In the second column are the fees if you leave your garbage unattended or still dispose of it at the recycle station. These fees will be added to your or the contract-paying member’s invoice without warning. And please remember that you can dispose of these for free in the building’s garbage room on the first floor, which is described above. Please read the next chapter about garbage room etiquette in the main building.

Please do not leave your garbage in common areas. If you have visitors, please ask them to do the same or clean up their garbage yourself.

Garbage room etiquette of the main building (on 1st floor) #

Please note that the below rules apply to the garbage room on the first floor, which our members with private offices can use. The chapter above describes our very limited garbage collection inside our office space. You are free to use the commercial garbage room on the first floor of the building if you have excessive garbage and certain items (like glass bottles, for example).

  • Double-bag the garbage bag when needed to make sure there are no leaks
  • All garbage must be placed inside the bin. If the bins are outside, please come back once they have returned to the room
  • All Cardboard must be correctly flattened and placed inside the cardboard bin or blue paper bins
  • No items, under any circumstances, should be left on the floor or on top of bins
  • No furniture, paintings, area rugs, or electronics are permitted to be placed in the garbage room. You must take these items directly to the recycling centre or landfill.
  • No propane or related BBQ equipment is to be left in the garbage room. Please drop off to the Recycling Centre
  • Donations will not be accepted from the garbage room. Please drop them off at the nearest donation centre.
